Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search tool is delivered directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the request and supplies the result. Madison County Court Docket does not retain or record the names, case numbers, or other terms entered in those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept long enough to review the request and respond. We do not disclose that correspondence beyond our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical and usage information when a visitor loads a page, including:
- The device's assigned IP address
- The browser name and version
- The operating system and type of device
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is reported
- The date and time associated with a page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a visitor's device. We may use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are used often and where visits end. A browser can reject or remove cookies through its settings. Blocking them may cause some website functions to operate differently.
What We Do With This Data
Information collected through normal website operation may be used for the following purposes:
- Operating the website and maintaining reasonable load times
- Routing a search submission to the provider that handles it
- Measuring which information visitors use most
- Diagnosing errors, outages, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Madison County Court Docket does not own, host, sell, or maintain a database of personal court-case information or Madison County docket entries. The content identifies official record custodians and explains routes to Gail Mooney, the Madison County Circuit Court Clerk and General Sessions Court Clerk, as well as other Tennessee courts and clerks. Tennessee Public Case History covers appellate matters and is not a statewide trial-court database. Visitor information collected here is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes available on the website. Information submitted through a box is handled under that provider's privacy notice rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own collection, retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Visitors should review the applicable provider terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Madison County offices, Tennessee courts, clerk resources, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Its practices may differ from ours, so review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based advertisements. We do not operate those external tracking systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- A search provider that receives a query submitted to its tool
- An analytics provider measuring traffic and performance
- An advertising network placing advertisements on a page
- A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures are applied to information within our control. No internet service or transmission method is completely secure, however. We work to reduce risk but cannot warrant that unauthorized access or another security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will take steps to remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Privacy and consumer-protection rights can depend on a visitor's residence and the law that applies to a particular request. A visitor may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal information we maintain about that visitor
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Delete personal information when the law permits
- Opt out of certain processing where an applicable law provides that choice
The Tennessee Public Records Act, principally Tenn. Code Ann. ยง10-7-503, concerns access to qualifying government records. It does not turn this privately operated website into a government custodian. Access to official Madison County court records also remains subject to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 and lawful restrictions.
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy as practices or legal requirements change. Any revision will be posted here, and the effective date below will be updated to show when the current version took effect.
Effective date: September 6, 2026
